Le Sommet de l’OMC à Seattle en Novembre-Décembre 1999 constitue un des moments fondateurs du "mouvement altermondialiste", du moins de ce que l’on entend médiatiquement par ce terme, à savoir la multitude de structures et de porte-paroles plus ou moins opportunistes qui se disputent les tribunes et revendiquent l’hégémonie de la parole au sein de ce qui constituerait le "Mouvement des mouvements".
